Bracelet Buying? What Measurements Do You Need for Perfect Fit?

Perfect Bracelet Sizing and Measurement

So you want to buy a bracelet for yourself, or someone else?  Well before you spend all the money, get your measurements right so that the bracelet fits perfectly.

And what exactly does that mean?  Some people like a very snug bracelet that fits right below the wrist bone, others like a bracelet that has that sexy drop at a lower place on your hand.  Want to make sure the length is right? Well you've come to the right place, let's review the details.  Get a measuring tape and take a measurement at the following location:

wrist measurement

That is just the beginning measurement, add at least a 1/4 inch to that measurement and it will fall right below the wrist bone.  Add, another 1/8-1/4 for that sexy drop, or just remeasure it at the exact spot you want it to fall, and add a 1/4 inch to the measurement.

So why are we adding that 1/4 inch? Well, just like when you sew your own clothes (ok so maybe you don't), you have something called "wearing ease". Let me give you a mental visual...you sew up some pants taking your exact measurements, put them on, and then you bend over, and feel and hear a rip,  that hole you just created was the space for wearing ease.  Same thing with a bracelet, you bend your wrist, and if there is no extra wearing ease in the bracelet, it tightens up, and maybe, hopefully not, it breaks.

The one thing you should never do is to have someone tell you how long in inches, of a bracelet, you should buy......Why is that?  Another blog post with a video.  :D
